After setup the router provides a new ip address for the extender
login to your device
from there you can check for the firmware update

after you do the set up of the extender then it will provide you the new IP address to the extender.Before checking the firmware update,login to the device and then check it.from there you can update the firmware.

Once you do the setup of the extender than the router provides the new IP address to the extender. So for checking the firmware update first you need to login into the device than you can check for the firmware update.
