my extender is not showing up in the wifi list, what should i do?

This means your extender is not properly setup with the network. To do the setup plug in your extender near to your modem & press the reset key for 30 seconds. Go to your computer or phone and open browser and type 192.168.3.1 in the top url bar. It will ask for your login information (default username and password is admin for both). Then it will open setup page. Just follow the instructions on the page and do the setup of the extender.
