  • Updating the firmware fixes bugs and enhances the functionality for the Linksys Wi-Fi Range Extender. This product has an Auto Firmware Update feature which automatically updates the device whenever there is a new firmware available.
    NOTE: This article assumes that your Linksys RE7000 has been set up.
    To upgrade your Linksys RE7000’s firmware, follow the steps below:
    Step 1: Access your Linksys RE7000’s web-based setup page.
    Step 2: On the web-based setup page, click Firmware Upgrade under Administration.

    Automatic update

    The Linksys RE7000 will automatically detect if there is a new available firmware and update itself. However, you can also log in and go to the Firmware Upgrade page which will force a firmware checkup. If there is a new version available, it will display the new firmware version number. Click the Update now button to start the upgrade process.

    IMPORTANT: Wait for the upgrade to finish. DO NOT power cycle the Linksys while it is performing the upgrade.
    NOTE: If you would like for future firmware files to automatically update, select the Auto-update checkbox.
    Manual update.
    IMPORTANT: Before you proceed with manually upgrading the Linksys firmware, ensure to first download the latest firmware file from the Linksys Support Site.
    To manually update the firmware, click Select a File and select the firmware file that you have downloaded, then click Open.
    Step 4: Click Save.
    Step 5: Click Start Upgrade and wait for the upgrade to finish. DO NOT power cycle the Linksys RE7000 while it is performing the upgrade.

    You should now have successfully updated your Linksys firmware.
