Before you start the setup process, make sure you have the following:
An active 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi connection
Your router’s Wi-Fi settings, including the Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password / security key.
Plug the Linksys RE7000 into a power outlet.
Wait for the light to change to orange
Using a computer or a mobile device, connect your device to the Linksys RE7000’s default Wi-Fi name, which is Linksys Extender Setup – xxx. You should be connected to this Wi-Fi to start the setup process.
In your computer or mobile device, open a browser and enter “http://extender.linksys.com” or “192.168.1.1” in the Address bar and press [Enter] to launch the setup.
Click Start Setup.
Create an admin password and your password hint then click Save once done
Select the As a wireless range extender option then click Next.
Select your existing Wi-Fi and enter your password when prompted.
Create your extended network SSIDs and wireless password
The Spot Finder page only appears on Range Extender mode. This feature determines the signal strength between your range extender and your router. If your range extender is too far, unplug and move it closer to your router and reconnect to the range extenders’ default SSID and go to “http://extender.linksys.com”.
Your device will automatically check for the latest available firmware and update it.
Your Linksys RE7000 is now setup in Range Extender mode.
You can follow these steps to setup your Linksys RE7000 Range Extender:-
>Place the Linksys range extender nearby to your home router and power it on for the initial setup.
>Press the WPS button on your extender and hold it down for 3-5 seconds.
>Within the 1-minute press WPS button on your home router.
>Wait for the extender lights get stable and now try to connect any of your wireless devices with the extended network.
*If you want to connect your range extender with 5GHz network then repeat the same steps once again.
In order to setup the RE7000 Range extender you would need to follow the following steps:
Step 1
> First connect your computer wireless or wired to the range extender
> logon to extender.linksys.com
> initiate the setup.
Step 2
> Press the WPS button on the router first for 3 seconds and then on the extender for 3 seconds once the light on the extender stops blinking the setup is complete.
