  • To setup a Linksys router with a DSL connection, you need to perform four steps:

    Verifying Internet Connection:-
Connect the Broadband modem to the computer using an Ethernet cable without the router installed and make sure that the Internet connection is active. If not, contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

    Connecting the Devices Together:-
After ensuring that you have an active Internet connection, connect the modem to the router’s Internet port and the computer to any of the four Ethernet ports.

    Checking the LEDs:-
After connecting your modem and PC to the router, check the lights on the front panel of the router.

Setting Up a DSL ISP on a Linksys Router:-
Access the router’s web-based setup page
Look for the Local IP Address and change it to 192.168.2.1
    Click save settings
    Renew the computer’s IP Address
Access the router’s web-based setup page using 192.168.2.1 as the IP Address
On the Setup page, click Status and check if Internet IP Address has numbers or values
If the Internet IP Address has numbers, the computer should now be able to access the Internet
If the IP Address is all zeroes (0.0.0.0) click renew first than click ip address renew
If the IP Address is still all zeroes, enable PPPoE on the router.

  • 1. Start your web browser.
    2. In the address bar, type the router’s IP address (e.g., 192.168.x.y).
    3. Enter the router’s administrative username and password.
    4. Navigate to the Internet Configuration page. If you can’t locate the Internet Configuration page, search for a page where the internet-facing interface can be configured.
    5. Select the type of internet connection for a DSL line, which will usually indicate PPPoE settings.
    6. In the PPPoE configuration window, enter your AOL Username and password in the respective fields. You should enter the Username as Username@aol.com (e.g., john@aol.com).
    7. Once complete, save settings and restart the router. The router should now connect to AOL on the internet-facing interface and should be ready to accept devices on the home network.
