I am trying to use Google Home at my place but its not working as it suppose to be. It is a brand new device, I configured it by using its GOOGLE HOME app on my Samsung S8+. While configuring, I just figured one problem which was "Location service failed", rest went well. when I tried using the device, It listened to my commend "OK Google" and lights blink with a Beep sound but it doesn't respond at all. I tried other method, by tap on the Google Home device and it responded well, as the device suppose to. Please provide me the best solution.

  • 1. Go to “My Activity” in the Google Home app settings and check, does it show the correct voice commands?
    2. If yes, then check the firmware version of google home?
    3. If still face the same issue try to switch the user account and then check it out gain.
    4. And the last option you can try is to delink or link gain your google account to the google home page.

  • If your Google Assistant isn’t responding to a question or command after saying “Ok Google,”you need to follow these steps:-
    First, kindly make sure:
1.Google Home is powered on and plugged into a wall outlet – The LED light on the back of Google
    Home will be white.
2.The microphone isn’t muted – Touch the microphone mute button on the back of Google Home.
Your Assistant will say whether the microphone is muted.
3.The LED dot ring on the top of Google Home spins when you say “Ok Google” or “Hey Google.”
If your Assistant answers other questions, try asking the unanswered question in a different way.
if problem still persists try these steps as well :-
    1. Reboot Google Home.
    2. Make sure Google Home is powered on correctly.
    3. Make sure Google Home recognizes the hotword.
    4. Make sure Google Home recognized the question correctly.
    5. check for the updates as well.

Make sure the microphone is On.
To verify, press the microphone on/off button on the back of the Google Home device.
Your Google Assistant will say whether the microphone is On or Off.
Make sure there is a network connection.
To verify, the small LED light on the back of the Google Home device should be solid white.

  • Try these steps which can fix your issue with OK GOOGLE command –

1.If the speaker is placed near noisy appliances ,The noise of the appliance will interfere with mic array in the google home.
Move away from such devices and keep it where you do not have other noisy appliances .

2.Make sure its connected to network .To verify there is a small LED on the back and it should be solid WHITE.

3.Check on the back of the speaker there is a On/Off switch for MIC .Make sure it On.If four yellow light is on light ring that means its Off.

4.Setup language should be English US.

5.You can factory reset your Google Home which fix this issue in more cases. You need to press and hold the Microphone On/Off button on the rear of the speaker for approximately 15 seconds. Google Home will notify you that it’s about to reset, and if you continue holding the button, it will be returned to factory settings.

  • I am on my fourth GH device and think I found the fix. My wife and I noticed GH would respond to her “OK Google” or “Hey Google” command but not me. I changed the language to English UK and now it works for both of us. I don’t understand because I am from GA.

  • I had the same issue on my Google home mini. But after change home and work locations information, It works for me.
