If a lot of devices transmit and receive data at the same time it is difficult for the router to pick the most suitable channels. There is a possibility that you experience lower internet speeds because of the interference of other networks, and consequently slow internet. It is possible to fix this issue by following a few steps to switch your WiFi channels. It is possible to use an app called WiFi Analyzer to determine the most appropriate channel. We will go into more detail in this blog.

There are many reasons to change the WiFi channel

  • Channels may overlap.
  • If several routers are on the same network, then they will have to wait until their turn to send and receive data.
  • It could not function with full efficiency in a high-traffic area.

Steps to switch channels

  • In the beginning, you'll need an appliance linked to your router's networks to change the wifi channel of your spectrum router.
  • Use any browser that is compatible and enter your default address 192.168.1.1 within the address field. This will bring you to the sign-in screen or warning screen. If you receive warnings go to Advanced, and click continue.
  • When you are prompted to login Into the login screen, you must input your credentials. Make use of the default credentials, even if you did not change the passwords.
  • The settings button will appear when you have accessed the graphic user interface.
  • Choose which frequency range you prefer: 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz.
  • Change onto the Advanced tab right now.
  • Choose the channel you want to use, then press Save.
