Design of AmpliFi Mesh Router
The router is a cubicle box measures 3.9 inches. It does not look like a networking device; either it looks like an alarm clock. There is a ring on the front of the router which shows day, date and time. We can check the IP addresses of the connected devices and how much data is transmitted. Tap twice to get the speed meter. The Configuration of the router cannot be done through this touch screen. You have to use an app for this purpose. It has 3*3 MIMO technology.
Design of AmpliFi Mesh Extender
The AmpliFi extenders are 7.1 inches long and sleek. The LED lights to check signal strength are also given on the front. Connect them directly to an electrical outlet and there is also a magnetic ball connecting antennas and its lower part. This magnetic ball is used to move the antenna to an angle to get maximum coverage and speed.
At the back of AmpliFi HD, you got four LAN ports and there is a port to connect to your modem as well. There is a USB 2.0 port as well to connect a printer or other drives. This Wi-Fi mesh system has beamforming technology to stream data to a connected device but lacks MIMO technology to manage multiple devices at the same time.
Setup, Warranty and Support
It takes around 15 minutes to set up this amazing mesh system. Connect the router to the broadband modem. Download the App on your Android or iOS device. Open the App, it finds the router and then enter username and password. For confirmation, you will hear a sound three times. Place extenders at an optimum location and connect extenders to the router. The LED lights on the extenders help to find the perfect location.
Talking about warranty, a one year warranty is provided. From the App itself, you can configure the system. The devices connected to the Wi-Fi system as well as upload and download speed are shown on the screen. WPA2 security is there to secure the data of the user. Traditional Parental controls feature is not there but a user can disable the internet connections for a while such as dinner time.
