Well it depends on teh old router if it gives you an option to setup as an access point.
All you need to try is reset the old router
Connect a ethernet cable from LAN port of your Linksys ac1900 to the old router to the internet port
Then connect your computer to the router wireless or via ethernet cable
Pull up the default gateway of the old router on the browser and initiate the setup process and see if somewhere it gives you an option to use as an access point if yes select the mode and complete the setup.
As you have mentioned that you want to use your old router as an access point how ever kindly mention the make and model of your old router so that we can check whether your router can be configured as an access point or not.
