To identify what mode the Linksys RE6400 is in , you will have to access the dashboard of the Extender, via a computer, phone or a tablet access the URL -> extender.linksys.com or you can use the IP address of the Extender which is by default is 192.168.1.1 on browser like Chrome, IE, Edge, Safari or Firefox.
After Entering the Login information that is the Username and Password it gives you the access to the Extender page where it shows what mode it is in like Extender or Access Point.
After setup, access the Linksys RE6400’s web-based setup page to view the updated top header name.
If the Linksys RE6400 is on Access Point mode, the top header will read Dual Band Wireless Access Point. If it is on Range Extender mode, the top header will read Dual Band Wireless Range Extender.
You need to login to the web based utility of linksys re 6400 i.e by ip address 192.168.1.1 or extender.linksys.com
Enter the default login username and password and you will be logged in to the page.
You will see the mode settings on the top of your Linksys web based page .
in order to check the what mode your linksys is on , you would need to logon to the linksys login page maybe using a computer, phone, tablet and logon to a a website https://extender.linksys.com or you can login in using the ip address 192.168.1.1 , enter your username and password on the status screen of your linksys dashboard you will see the current mode extender or access point.
second way to see what mode your linksys extender is working is by looking at the extender and see if there is any Ethernet cable is connected to it from the router or from the modem and if the internet is working that way if yes it’s working as an access point.
if you don’t see any cable to it and the internet is still working using your extended network or default WiFi name of your extender it means its on repeater or extender mode.
To check the mode of your extender kindly follow these steps:-
1. Press windows + R key that will open run window for you.
2. Type CMD in the run box.
3. Open Ipconfig and check network statistics.
4. Open your default gateway in any browser.
5. Type your user name and password .
6. It will open router main page from here you can check the mode.
