Go to support.netgear.com, enter model number of your extender, and download the desired firmware version.
Open router dashboard on computer which is connected to router and update the firmware

Login to your netgear router page by entering the default username and password.
Now go to the advanced tab and click on firmware .
Now here you can check the firmware upgrade available and upgrade your router version.
Your Router will reboot itself and once it is back everything is up and running.

1. Go to the support official website and download the firmware by choosing the right model of your device.
2. Login into your router dashboard and go to Advanced and then check the firmware update, if any new firmware is available it will start downloading the file.
3. Run the setup and it will reboot the router for a while and you might loose the internet connection for few minutes. Once done everything will be up and running fine.
To update the firmware of your netgear extender kindly follow these steps:-
1.Log in to the WiFi range extender.
2.Select Wireless Extender Status under Management in the main menu. When the Wireless Extender Status screen displays, note the version number of your extender firmware.
3.Go to http://www.NETGEAR.com/support, and select Downloads from the menu bar.
4.From the Product Selection drop-down list, select model number if your extender. The Product Support page for your extender displays.
5.Under Downloads, check the most recent firmware version offered against the firmware version shown on your Wireless Extender Status screen.
6.If the version on the NETGEAR website is more recent, click the version number. Then, click Right-click and Save to Download, and save the file to a location on your hard disk.
7.Log in again to the WiFi range extender, then select Firmware Update under Maintenance in the main menu.
8.Click Browse and locate the unzipped firmware image that you downloaded to your PC (the file ends in .img or .chk).
9.Once you have selected the file, click Upload to send the software to the extender. The upload process takes several minutes. When the software upload process is complete, the extender restarts.
