  • As you have mentioned that you want to connect your LInksys Ea6700 router to your old router in this case we need to do cascading of both the routers.
there are two types of cascading 1. Lan-Lan 2. Lan -Wan cascading, i am sharing both type of cascading here:-
    LAN-LAN
1.Check and take note of the IP Address of the main router.
2.Connect your computer to one of the Ethernet ports of the secondary router.
3.Access the web-based setup page of the secondary router.
4.Under the Basic Setup sub-tab, look for IP Address or Local IP Address. If the IP Address is the
same as the main router, change the fourth octet (the number in the fourth box) to a different
    value.
5.For the DHCP Server Setting, set the DHCP Server to Disabled.Click Save Settings.
6.Unplug the cable from your computer and connect it to one of the Ethernet ports on the main
router. Make sure the main router is still connected to the modem via its Internet port.
7.Powercycle the secondary router and once the Power light is solid, check whether you’re able to
access the Internet on your devices.
    LAN-WAN
1.Check and take note of the IP Address of the main router.
2.Connect your computer to one of the Ethernet ports of the secondary router.
3.Access the web-based setup page of the secondary router.
4.Under the Basic Setup sub-tab, look for IP Address or Local IP Address. If the IP Address is the
same as the main router, change the third octet (the number in the third box) to a different
value. Make sure that the Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0. This will set the secondary router to a
different IP segment from the main router.
5..For the DHCP Server Setting, set the DHCP Server to Enabled.Click Save Settings.
6.Unplug the cable from your computer and connect it to one of the Ethernet ports on the main
    router.
7.Transfer the Ethernet cable connected to the secondary router to its Internet port.
8.Power cycle the secondary router and once the Power light is solid, check whether you’re able to
access the Internet on your devices.

  • STEPS TO DO CASCADING BETWEEN TWO ROUTERS
1 .Connect a computer to the router. Do not connect the second router to the first at the moment.
    2. Configure the router at http://192.168.1.1/ OR linksyssmartwifi.com
    3. Change the LAN IP address of the second router from 192.168.1.1 to a free address in your LAN (e.g. 192.168.1.2 should be O.K. if the first router is also a Linksys router). The address you change to (192.168.1.2) must not be used by any other device .
    4. A default Linksys router uses 192.168.1.1 itself and the DHCP server assigns 192.168.1.100-149.
    5. Turn off the DHCP server on the second router.
    7. Save the setting.
    8. Unplug the computer from the second router.
    9. Connect an ethernet cable from a LAN port of the first router to a LAN port of the second router. Do not use the Internet/WAN port on the second router

  • You need to setup your main router first. It should be working. Then the secondary router should powered up and connected to your computer hard wire from Ethernet port(1,2,3,4) to the computer then access the router page using router IP For example(192.168.1.1 , 192.168.0.1) .Complete the setup and then just go to network settings of router change the IP address (from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1) and enable DHCP server. Then connect the Ethernet cable from main router port number 4 to secondary router’s Ethernet port. Power cycle your router. It will work.
