For Upgrading the firmware you need a hardwired from the netgear router .Basically you can do it wirelessly also but i would suggest to use hardwired .
Once you are connected from router open your browser and type http://routerlogin.net or 192.168.1.1
You need to login into your router by using login details .Check on bottom of your router .Default details are ‘Username-admin and Password-password’.
You will see Genie page and on the top you will see new firmware upgrade .If its located there you can click on it and you can proceed with update .
NOTE- While upgrade is in process do not remove any cable from router or computer and never turn off your router otherwise it may result in corrupt firmware which can stop your router from working .
